Research and Special Projects Funding

The purpose of Research Grants and Special Project Funding is to support research and program development which advances knowledge related to priorities of CACUSS. In addition to providing support to professionals/departments conducting the projects, the funding is also supposed to return some of the knowledge back to the greater CACUSS membership through dissemination in publications (Communique magazine/monographs), online resources, annual conference presentations and/or webinars. 

Research Award--Applications due Oct 15 and March 15

New for 2015, CACUSS has dedicated an additional $15,000 per year, for 3 years, to support Canadian student affairs research. As such, we will extend the call for applications twice a year in October and February. Funding priority would be based on applicants demonstrating:

  • Practitioner-led research projects that have value to CACUSS members and will address key priorities as identified by the organization, 
  • Evidence that the research will occur within the time period based on funding awarded (e.g. budget is within the value of the grant and/or other funding and support is available, 
  • Relevance to overall CACUSS priorities, current trends in student affairs in Canada and/or specific relevance/applicability to CACUSS communities.
  • A plan to disseminate the outcomes or findings through various forms to benefit the wider CACUSS membership.

Requirements:

  • Providing the Director, Awards and Recognition with a summary of the project for submission to the Editor of Communiqué;
  • Providing a full report on the project which will posted in the resources area of the CACUSS website;
  • Providing documentation to confirming the funds have been spent on the project;Completion of the project within the year presented, or notification as to the probable completion date, if an
extension is required.

Eligibility:

Current membership in CACUSS

Award:

Up to a maximum of $6000 to the institution where the project is taking place.

Special Project Funding--Applications due Oct 15 and March 15

The purpose of Special Project Funding is to support the development of new programs with special attention paid to the assessment of results and outcomes. CACUSS will fund up to four (4) new program development projects annually. Funding for new projects or applied programs which can assess, demonstrate and report on outcomes/impact on students, the department, or the institution.

Funding priority will be based on applicants demonstrating:

  • Practitioner-led projects that will have value to CACUSS members and address priorities of the organization, 
  • Evidence that the project can be completed based on the funding awarded (e.g. budget is within the value requested and/or other funding has been granted, 
  • Support from CACUSS, its divisions/Communities of Practice
  • Collaboration between institutions and
  • Demonstration of a plan to disseminate the outcomes/findings through Communique, conference presentations, online resources and/or webinars

Requirements:
