Strategic Directions

The following four strategic directions have been established for CADSPPE for the 2006 to 2010 period:

  1. To advocate for an educational model of inclusion, equity and access for all learning environments:

    1. Pursuing a national agenda on disability education.
    2. Supporting universal accessibility to educational opportunities.
    3. Developing alternative models of educational delivery founded on a socio-political approach as opposed a medical approach.

  2. To develop and gain acceptance of professional standards of practice.

  3. To pursue strategic partnerships and decision-making positions in order to support:
    1. Enhanced funding and related resourcing.
    2. Access to and participation in research.
    3. Collaboration with administrators, faculty, staff, students and other stakeholders.
    4. Awareness within postsecondary institutions and external partners.

  4. To undertake organizational capacity building initiatives related to:
    1. An enhanced website to improve/facilitate:
      1. Information sharing.
      2. Bilingualism in French and English.
      3. Professional development, access to materials and other services.
      4. Member contact and communications.
      5. Distance education supports.
    2. Achieving an increased regional presence and membership growth in:
      1. Colleges and Technical Institutions.
      2. Quebec, Yukon, Nunavut, and the Northwest Territories
    3. Explore the potential benefits and feasibility of a CADSPPE secretariat.
    4. Investigate a name change for the organization.
