Charlottetown Airport is Prince Edward Island’s only commercially operated airport providing the necessary infrastructure and facilities for airlines offering scheduled air service. Scheduled airlines include Air Canada and Westjet year-round.  Air Canada provides direct flights daily to and from Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, and Ottawa (on a seasonal basis) International airports with connections worldwide. Westjet provides direct flights to an from Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.  Air cargo and air freight services are also available from the scheduled carriers but only on a space available basis.

The Confederation Bridge joins the eastern Canadian provinces of Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick, making travel throughout the Maritimes easy and convenient. The curved, 12.9 kilometer (8 mile) long bridge is the longest in the world crossing ice-covered water, and more than a decade after its construction, it endures as one of Canada’s top engineering achievements of the 20th century.

Confederation Bridge tolls are charged for the round-trip, regardless of the user’s initial point of entry to Prince Edward Island. Bridge tolls are collected when leaving Prince Edward Island at the toll plaza in Borden-Carleton, PE. Cash, Interac, and all major credit cards are accepted. Confederation Bridge tolls are tax-exempt.

Northumberland Ferries Limited operates vehicle ferry service between Wood lslands, PEI and Caribou, Nova Scotia daily during the months of May through to December. Schedule and rate information can found on their website or by calling toll free at 1-877-762-7245.  The ferry toll is based on a round trip rate. Travelers are not charged to take the ferry from Caribou Nova Scotia but will be charged leaving Prince Edward Island at Wood Islands terminal.

 BY TRAIN OR BUS

Try out the Ocean and immerse yourself in Maritime culture along the way! Travel by train as far as Moncton, New Brunswick or Halifax, Nova Scotia and continue on to Prince Edward Island by bus or rental car.  VIA Rail and Amtrak (via Montreal) offer services which connect to Moncton, New Brunswick.
 

Martime Bus offers daily service between Charlottetown, Summerside and Borden-Carleton and over 40 locations across the Maritimes, with connections to Central and Western Canada.

A number of companies offer shuttle services by van to and from Charlottetown (and other selected island locations) and Halifax.  These companies operate from various locations and on different schedules; contact each for details about their specific services.
