The Department of Athletics and Recreation strives to create a respectful and inclusive environment that promotes opportunity and overall well-being through physical activity. The department offers a variety of indoor and outdoor programming at multiple locations including the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre and outdoor facilities, to encourage participation at all levels and to suit the convenience of our students, staff, faculty and alumni.

The Health & Wellness Centre provides inter-professional medical, counselling and health promotion services in a safe, accessible and culturally responsive environment to optimize the students’ personal, academic and overall well-being. We strive to enhance services to students through collaborative partnerships on campus and in our community.

Under the general direction of the Assistant Dean, Wellness, Recreation & Sports and with a dotted reporting line to the Director, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion at UTSC, the Equity Engagement Coordinator is responsible for supporting both the Department of Athletics and Recreation and the Health & Wellness Centre on equity related programming, outreach, and knowledge translation across and within co-curricular areas related to athletics, recreation, physical activity, health and wellness, with the goal of increasing participation and ensuring high levels of engagement amongst all members of the campus community, and in particular students.

The successful candidate will be a highly collaborative individual responsible for supporting programming, training and strategy implementation, in partnership with others within the broader Student Experience & Wellbeing portfolio so as to improve student access and participation in all forms of physical activity, recreation, sport, and wellness thereby ensuring opportunity for equitable access for all students. Using an anti-oppressive approach along with a highlevel of cultural and diversity awareness, the incumbent acts as the primary coordinator, along with a student leadership team, to champion equity, diversity, and accessibility programming across the continuum of co-curricular programs in collaboration with UTSC’s Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Office, tri-campus Equity Officers and Equity related positions across the University.
