The Manager, Student Advising plays a vital role in managing the one-stop Student Welcome and Support Centre (SWSC) for Lassonde School of Engineering (LSE) students (new and continuing). A focal point for student advising, engagement and retention, this position will manage the School's undergraduate student advising journey from enrolment to graduation, for our diverse student population. The Manager guides staff in providing students with a holistic and developmental advising experience based in research and best practices. Additionally, the Manager provides academic support services including, degree audits, course offering, course enrolment, enrolment reporting, convocation, statistical reporting, web page updates and publications. The Manager has overall responsibility for: Management of Student Welcome and Support Centre Operations, Management of Student Advising, Management of Student Centre Staff, Management of Information Systems, Statistics and Diagnostic Reporting, Financial Management, Publications. The Manager plays a key role on the management team envisioning a progressive and innovative student experience.
To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring the following:
Minimum undergraduate degree required (engineering, science or technology, social sciences, business, education, law, etc). Five (5) years' progressive experience in the administration of academic programs or student services. Exposure to and knowledge of academic and governance structures within a university environment. Strong leadership and staff management skills. Experience managing in a unionized environment. Excellent technological skills including database management and statistical analysis and familiarity with student information systems. Implementing co-curricular programs based on theory, research, and best practices.
