Associate Director, Student Life
Student Affairs at NIC is dedicated to supporting the academic and personal development of our students. Reporting to the Director, Student Affairs, the Associate Director, Student Life (ADSL) provides day-to-day and strategic leadership within Student Affairs and Services. The ADSL is part of the Student Affairs administrative team responsible for student judicial affairs and case management (including outreach, support and Early Assist), sexualized violence prevention and response education, Counselling Services, student life programming and coordination (including orientation), and, in collaboration with the VP Students and Community Engagement, future student housing.
The position regularly collaborates with deans, department chairs, faculty, counsellors, Department of Accessible Learning Services, elders, educational advisors, Indigenous Education Navigators and other college administrators to proactively resolve issues and connect students to supports.
The Associate Director promotes and creates a positive campus climate to foster student engagement and a culture of inclusion, health and well-being, and to support the overall vision and mission of the college.
The Associate Director, Student Life is based on the Campbell River campus, but provides college-wide support. Competencies include: creates a positive climate and culture, effective communication skills, effectively develops goals and objectives, focuses effectively on key results and priorities, demonstrates a focus on continuous improvement, interpersonal effectiveness, team leadership, developing others, championing and adapting to change.
