The primary objective of the Student Career Database and Information Specialist is to assist with the configuration and maintenance of the College’s Work Integrated Learning placement matching and tracking systems. Key areas of the support include database administration, configuration and testing, user training and support.

The incumbent’s role is to help ensure that Career Services staff, and Bow Valley College employees involved in Work Integrated Learning are using technology in the most efficient and consistent way possible. Working with the Career Services team, the incumbent helps maintain the integrity of key databases through system configuration, onboarding new users, and assisting internal and external stakeholders.

This role will also provide technical and communications support with event management systems, existing communication tools and appointment bookings systems. This role will provide support for marketing and communication initiatives and projects, especially those that require a technical aspect and/or integration with another system.


Minimum Requirements

3 years of related experience
Diploma in: Software/database Administration, Communications, Information Management or related discipline(s)
Skills utilizing and/or configuring technology platforms and systems including databases, Work Integrated Learning platforms and contact management systems
An equivalent combination of directly related education and experience may be considered


Preferred

5 years of related experience in a PSI setting
Ability to work with diverse populations
Strong interpersonal skills and relationship-building skills
Superior customer service skills
Advanced skills in technology platforms and systems including databases, WIL platforms, contact management systems, websites, and common systems used within PSI settings (SIS)
Knowledge of Bow Valley College brand and communication standards and guidelines
5 years of related experience in a PSI setting
Strong interpersonal skills and relationship-building skills
Superior customer service skills
Advanced skills in technology platforms and systems including databases, WIL platforms, contact management systems, websites, and common systems used within PSI settings (SIS)
Knowledge of Bow Valley College brand and communication standards and guidelines
Additional courses or training in related fields, as well as: technical writing, digital or graphic design, information systems
