The Director, Indigenous Student Services is responsible for supporting the University in addressing issues and dynamics arising from complex interaction of cultural issues with personal and academic challenges. The position plays an important role in situating the work of Indigenous Elders and the Elders Program at SFU and framing culturally based ceremonial work in the SFU community. The Director provides strategic advice and direction of Student Services and the University by establishing and maintaining internal and external communication links which aims to increase Indigenous student retention and to enhance the degree-attaining success of Indigenous students at SFU. The Director develops, implements, and evaluates strategic plans, policies, programs, and services provided across Student Services and through the Indigenous Student Centre (ISC) with the goal to support undergraduate and graduate Indigenous students in meeting their academic and personal goals. The position reports to the Executive Director, Student Affairs.
