We would like to acknowledge that Mount Allison University is located within the traditional territory of Mi’kma’ki, the unceded ancestral homelands of the Mi’kmaq. Because of this treaty relationship, it is to be acknowledged that we are all Treaty People and have a responsibility to respect this territory.

Founded in 1839 in the liberal arts tradition, Mount Allison University’s goal is to be one of North America’s best undergraduate universities by providing a supportive, experiential, student-focused approach to teaching and research. Mount Allison prides itself as a small undergraduate university and maintains a low student-to-faculty ratio. It offers a special relationship between research and teaching and a unique context for collaboration and partnerships across disciplines. The idyllic campus is situated in the historic town of Sackville, NB, just outside of Moncton, NB. Students from more than fifty countries make up a diverse, creative, and talented student body of approximately 2,300 students.

Reporting to the Vice-President, International and Student Affairs as a senior member of an integrated Student Affairs team, as the Director of Athletics and Recreation you will provide effective vision, leadership, management, administration, and coordination of a broad-based athletic and recreation portfolio which includes programs, activities and services at the varsity, intramural, club, and recreational levels. You will lead and inspire a dedicated and talented team of coaches, staff, volunteers, participants, and student-athletes at all levels of sport including intramural, recreation, club, ACAA/CCAA, and AUS/U SPORTS and programs. You will provide strategic leadership and actively promote the integration of extra-curricular and curricular activities in accordance with Mount Allison University’s Strategic Statement.

As the ideal candidate, you bring proven experience as a leader and manager in post-secondary athletics administration, recreation or a related field. You bring solid business and financial acumen and experience effectively managing teams and budgets. An exceptional communicator and natural collaborator, you understand how to achieve strategic objectives by building strong relationships within and outside of your organization, including with community partners. Your positive energy and tenacity in the pursuit of strategic goals inspires a high level of engagement and confidence within your team. You have proven your ability to capably manage multiple, evolving priorities within a changing environment while always keeping the strategic vision of your department and institution top of mind. Most importantly, you are passionate about the value of post-secondary education and the formative and lasting impact that varsity athletics programs, intramural programs, recreation and student clubs and societies have in student’s lives.

Mount Allison is committed to diversity and inclusiveness. We encourage applications from members of racialized communities, Indigenous persons, persons with disabilities, and persons of all sexual and gender identities.
