Reporting to the Manager, Housing and Prevention Education, the Residence Life & Services Coordinator (RC) is a full-time permanent role responsible for the day-to-day success of all residence functions at Concordia University of Edmonton. This position supervises a team of student workers to develop programing and resolve issues to maintain a safe, academically focused, and developmental environment within all student residences. The Residence Life & Services Coordinator oversees the implementation of defined business operations processes, regularly communicating updates and issues to the Manager to ensure student satisfaction. This position will investigate low to mid-level alleged violations of established policies and expectations for students.

Please note:

The Residence Life & Services Coordinator participates in a 24/7 Manager On-Call rotation from late-August to late-April. The RC will be on-call approximately 2 weeks per month and must remain within 30 minutes from campus while on-call to respond to emergency situations, though physical responses are generally rare. Time off in lieu will be provided to the RC for on-call duties.

The Residence Life & Services Coordinator role is a live-out position, the successful candidate will not be required to live in residence and is eligible for a remote work agreement.

Responsibilities:
- Provide coaching to student workers on programs, and identify areas where risk can be avoided, or the quality of the program could be elevated.
- Facilitate educational conversations, proactive and reactive, to help residents understand the expectations for their behaviour.
- Investigate incident reports as assigned by the Manager, determining responsibility on a balance of probabilities, and assign appropriate sanctions.
- Facilitate restorative processes for students, particularly roommates, who are in conflict.
- Hire, supervise, and support a team of 5-6 student workers.
- Facilitate and organize bi-annual student staff training according to identified curriculum.
- Recruit and train a team of volunteer Residence Councillors who advocate on behalf of their assigned residence hall.
- Provide front-line support to students experiencing a variety of routine and complex challenges including academic stress, thoughts of suicide, sexual violence, and more, refer cases to the Manager or Campus Partners as appropriate.
- Oversee the administrative functions of three annual admission cycles, following up on any application issues or concerns.
- Provide prompt and helpful responses to general inquiries about Housing Services.
- Liaise with Plant Operations and Custodial Services teams about routine processes to maintain facilities, identify routine issues and rectify them.
- Assist the Manager with special projects and oversee the implementation of new initiatives.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience in student housing, student life, education, customer service, etc. at the student and/or professional level.
- A relevant post-secondary degree or diploma (education, sociology, social work, psychology, business administration, etc.)
- Other employment/educational experience will be considered, please connect your experience to the role in your cover letter.
- Relevant certifications and training include ASIST, Mental Health First Aid, conflict resolution, receiving disclosures, and event planning.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite for routine work tasks.
- Effective interpersonal skills in routine and confrontational/complex situations.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to exercise sound judgment related to confidential information according to department, institution, and legal requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects at the same time, occasionally on tight deadlines.
- Satisfactory Criminal Records Check results

Hiring Range: $44,591-$46,724
