Situated in the City of Pembroke, approximately 140 km northwest of Ottawa, and on the waterfront of the Ottawa River, Algonquin’s Pembroke Campus offers a wide variety of programs in Business, Computer and Technology, Health Science, Outdoor Training, Environmental Science and Community Studies. In addition, apprenticeship and pre-programs, and non-credit activities such as Academic Upgrading are offered at the Campus. The Dean is also responsible for the administration of certain Employment Ontario/Employment Services programs in Renfrew County for the Government of Ontario, as well as several contracts with the Federal Government. The Pembroke Campus is also home to an Elder-in-Residence, Kampus Kokum and Campus Drumkeeper who all help to educate and bring traditions and resources to Indigenous and non-Indigenous students.
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Academic (SVPA), the Dean, Pembroke Campus is accountable for contributing to the academic well-being and growth of the College, and in providing administrative leadership, supervision, support, and direction to the Pembroke team. The Dean develops and implements the strategic plan for the Campus, in line with the College and Academic Strategic Plans, and ensures the current and future educational needs of students are met by providing an ongoing review of programs, modifying existing courses/programs, and introducing new courses/programs and delivery modalities.
The Dean also establishes and maintains a positive College image, including acting as the Campus spokesperson with industry, other institutions, local and provincial governments and agencies. The Dean ensures short and long-term financial stability of the Campus, including effective financial and business planning and management processes, and ensures the Campus operates within the intent of all enabling and regulatory legislation and governing policies.
As a well-qualified candidate, you have a passion for student success and education. You have obtained a master’s level degree and bring senior level experience working within a post-secondary institution or a related sector, preferably within a large, unionized environment. You bring a strategic and consensus building approach to administrative and academic leadership and have a successful track record of establishing and maintaining partnerships with the community and business. Your open, transparent, and collaborative approach will serve you well in working with students, faculty, staff, alumni, government officials, employers, and community stakeholders to achieve mutual goals.
