The University of Calgary Student Wellness Services, in Student & Enrolment Services, is seeking a Counsellor, to provide individual and group counselling to University of Calgary students. This position is a Tenure-Track appointment that will also be a Department Head equivalent appointment for the initial 5 years of employment with potential for renewal subject to review. Once the Associate Director appointment is completed, this will become a counselling position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will provide counselling to support the personal and academic growth of undergraduate and graduate students. The successful applicant will also have administrative, counselling/teaching, scholarship and service duties.
The Associate Director must work effectively with a diverse set of team members comprised of Academic, Management and Professional and Support Staff. The Associate Director must be able to build relationships with students and staff, within Student and Enrolment Services units, across the University as well as external stakeholders.
The Associate Director is part of the senior leadership team of Student Wellness Services working in close collaboration with the Senior Director, Student Wellness, Access and Support in the management of the services and making of key strategic administrative, programming, financial and staffing decisions. In addition, the Associate Director (as an Academic Staff member) supervises/manages the work of counsellors, (who hold academic positions), provisionally registered interns, and counselling trainees. In collaboration with the Senior Director, the Associate Director also provides input into the day to day tasks and performance evaluations of support staff within Student Wellness Services. This position provides leadership for Student Wellness Services while also providing direction, guidance and expertise to others within the University community on counselling related areas. This includes promoting and marketing counselling services, monitoring counselling schedules and ensuring full counselling coverage. The Associate Director needs to have awareness of and sensitivity to the diversity of all students and staff. This position is equivalent to Department Head (as per the Collective Agreement and Procedures Pertaining to Appointment, Promotions and Tenure of Academic Staff APT Manual). The position reports to the Senior Director, Student Wellness, Access and Support for operational issues and the Vice-Provost Student Experience for all other matters.
