About the Role

The role of Associate Vice-President, Student Experience is a significant leadership position that will lead the University’s efforts to fulfill its strategic commitment to student success and to creating an exceptional student experience.

Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President Academic, the Associate Vice-President, Student Experience is responsible for the provision of exemplary student services and systems infrastructure designed to support and enhance the student experience across main and downtown campuses. The Associate Vice-President, Student Experience is also responsible for strategic leadership and planning in a diverse portfolio, encompassing Indigenous student support, student development, leadership programs, residences, international student support, student non-academic conduct, student health, and accessibility and support for students with disabilities.

The University has undergone significant change in the last 5 years and this role will need to support the development of effective systems and services, while expertly employing change management skills to support the community. The Associate Vice-President, Student Experience leads an energetic and dedicated professional staff of more than 58 and is responsible for an operating budget of $12.5 million, including ancillary budgets.

Who You Are

The successful candidate will be a seasoned university leader and scholar-practitioner who provides leadership in building inclusive communities for students and staff. This includes knowing and understanding how to listen and engage with members of equity groups, including but not limited to, Indigenous, racialized, 2SLGBTQI+ individuals and communities, and students who may express non-dominant ideas, practices, and expectations. Furthermore, they are a data-driven decision maker that has a record of building strong and effective relationships across administrative and faculty departments in a large university setting. The successful candidate will have earned a university degree, with a graduate degree considered an asset. Depending on the successful candidate’s qualifications, an academic appointment with tenure could be considered.
