Osgoode Professional Development (OPD) is the lifelong learning unit of Osgoode Hall Law School, one of Canada’s preeminent law schools, and is part of York University.

OPD is a revenue-generating professional executive education enterprise designed to provide both degree and non-degree continuing legal professional educations programs to post-graduate lawyers and other executives and professionals with legal risks and responsibilities in their jobs. Our offerings include both full-time and part-time professional graduate degree programs, non-degree certificates, seminars and skills workshops, summer school and bridging programs, online courses and webinars, and custom in-house training for private and public sector organizations.

OPD has two main divisions: (a) Professional Graduate and International Programs: and (b) Continuing Legal Education (non-degree). Staff are located at both Osgoode Hall Law School (OHLS), Keele Campus, York University, and 1 Dundas Street West, 26th floor, Toronto. Most staff have a hybrid work arrangement.

Reporting to the Assistant Dean/Executive Director and with a view to maximizing OPD profitability, the Director, Business Operations is responsible for:
• Strategic management and planning of OPD administrative functions;
• Financial planning and budgetary control for OPD;
• Management of the finance function;
• Supervision of the manager responsible for registration services; physical resources, facilities and space allocation; and, health, safety and security; and
• Supervision of the Manager, IT and Innovation.

To be considered for this opportunity, the successful candidate will bring the following:
• University Degree with a CPA designation. MBA/CFA would be a strong asset.
• A minimum of 5 to 7 years’ experience in managing financial resources, administration, facilities and IT.
• Experience managing in an educational institution or similar setting would be an asset.
• Experience managing in a unionized public sector environment strongly preferred.
• Broad understanding of the goals and objectives of a University including decision-making processes would be an asset.
• Experience in a revenue-generating unit within a public sector institution or within the for-profit sector would also be an asset.
