Dalhousie University recognizes that learning outside the classroom is as important as learning inside the classroom. Residence Life Staff provide a holistic student experience to 2,300 residence students through student-centered supports and programs to enhance the overall student experience. Reporting to the Manager, Student Conduct, the incumbent assists students’ development during a critical and transformative time.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the administration and case management of the Residence Code of Conduct policy and processes; identify and support restorative practices as well as conduct student behavioural meetings.
Provide coaching, training, and support to student staff with respect to the implementation of restorative practices and community management as required.
Create and coordinate outcome based, proactive and reactive programming, publications and campaigns designed to promote a respectful and safe civic environment.
Assist in recruiting, hiring, training and supervision of Guest Sign-in Staff, including ongoing support and payroll.
In consultation with the Manager, Student Conduct, make effective operational and strategic recommendations for residence conduct policies and practices.
Support the university Code of Student Conduct policy and processes as required.

Note: The role is highly visible and works flexible hours including extended workdays. Attendance at evening and weekend meetings, programs and functions is required.

Qualifications: Undergraduate degree, plus experience (professional considered an asset) in a leadership role with university student services. Professional residence life experience preferred. The successful candidate must have demonstrated skills in communication, change management, program and personnel management (hiring, training and supervision of student staff) and building strategic partnerships. Additional student conduct training (or related field) such as restorative justice and/or conflict mediation is also considered an asset.
