The Department of Educational Studies at Kwantlen Polytechnic University is inviting applications for one Regular (50%) position. Subject to budgetary approval, this position will begin in September 2018 and involves teaching EDUC 1100 - Introduction to Higher Education and EDUC 1150 - Introduction to Higher Education for International Students: two each in the Fall (September-December) and Summer (May-August) semesters. Additional sections may be available depending on student demand, but cannot be guaranteed. Courses will take place at either or both KPU Richmond and Surrey campuses.

The Department of Educational Studies offers an Education Stream, a B.A. Minor in Counselling, and university transitions courses. We are primarily a teaching-oriented university and department. Further information about the Educational Studies department may found at:

All of our Educational Transitions courses focus on mentoring students in developing a deep understanding of why they are in university, what they need to accomplish while they are here, and what support they need to do so. In EDUC 1150 students will also gain an understanding of the purpose and values of higher education in a Canadian context, and use the analysis of higher educational institutions as a basis for the cultivation of the skills, strategies, abilities, and traits that can enable academic and personal success in higher education and beyond. The Person We are seeking individuals who meet the following qualifications:

Minimum qualifications relevant to this position within the department include:
• A PhD in Education, Humanities or Social Sciences is preferred. Applications from ABD candidates and Masters level candidates will be considered
• Extensive experience and exceptional record teaching undergraduate university courses
• Preference will be given to candidates with teaching expertise and related experience working with international students at the post-secondary level
• A strong understanding of the value of and a demonstrated commitment to a broad liberal arts tradition in education
