Courage to Act: Sexual Harassment In Experiential Learning

Courage to Act is a federally funded collaborative initiative to address and prevent gender-based violence on Canadian campuses. It leads the first national research-to-action project looking at sexual harassment faced by post-secondary students in experiential learning. Within the field of experiential learning, students are uniquely vulnerable to sexual harassment. Possibility Seeds’ Courage to Act project wants to understand this issue and create strategies, resources, and tools for post-secondary institutions, staff, students, and employers. Our guest speaker Britney De Costa is the Experiential Learning Project Lead with Possibility Seed. Britney’s work with Courage to Act focuses on creating safer, trauma-informed complaints processes and addressing the gaps that make students vulnerable to sexual harassment in experiential or work-based learning. This event is hosted by the CACUSS Community of practice (CoP) of Community Engaged Learning and co-sponsored by the Sexual Violence Prevention & Response CoP and Research, Assessment and Evaluation CoPs.
